Before you order
- Coming to the clinic costs less
- If you can get to Melbourne, do that instead. You avoid the kit fee and your GP's consultation fee, the sample is collected by people who take these daily rather than a GP reading the protocol for the first time, and there is no postage in either direction. Remote collection exists for people who genuinely cannot travel, not because it is better.
- The protocol has to be followed exactly
- A hair test is only as strong as the record of how the sample was handled. Any departure from the supplied protocol can be challenged by the other side, and that argument is far harder to answer than it sounds. The kit carries step-by-step guidelines and a checklist — ask your practitioner to read them before the appointment.
- Sending a kit overseas
Outbound shipping: We ship kits worldwide for a flat $55. This covers postage from us to you, anywhere we can post to.
Return shipping: The $55 fee does not include return postage. Because postal rules, tracking options and prepaid labels differ by country, we cannot prepay return postage from overseas. This applies to overseas orders only — a kit posted within Australia carries prepaid return labelling, and the practitioner simply posts the sample back.
- Your overseas kit includes a plain envelope printed with our return address and no stamps.
- You must bring stamps to your appointment.
- After collection, your practitioner posts the sample back to us using local postage.
Strong recommendation — use tracking: Because this is a forensic sample, we strongly recommend you also buy a trackable satchel locally and ask your practitioner to post the sample back in that instead of the untracked envelope provided. An untracked sample cannot be shown to have travelled unbroken, which can be used to challenge the chain of custody.
Delivery times: Allow 7–15 business days each way — outbound and return — depending on destination and local postal services.
Customs, duties and taxes: Any import duty, tax or customs charge raised in the destination country is set by that country and must be paid at delivery.
Sample stability: Hair is stable at room temperature and does not spoil in transit. A slower return leg may extend your overall timeline but will not affect your test result.
- Off-site collection is the donor's responsibility
- Once the kit leaves us, the donor is responsible for the collection appointment, for the practitioner following the protocol, and for the sealed sample being posted back by the practitioner rather than carried by hand.
- A retest after an off-site error is charged again
- Most off-site collections go through without trouble. Where one does not — an unsigned form, a seal broken, the donor not properly identified — the sample has to be recollected and retested, and that cost falls to the donor.
- A dispatched kit cannot be returned
- Change your mind before the kit is posted and it is refunded, less the 30% administrative fee covering the paperwork already prepared. Once it has left us we cannot accept a change-of-mind return, because we have no way to verify whether a kit has been opened. If something is genuinely wrong with what arrived, call us. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
